Group Exercise Session Descriptions:
Ashtanga Yoga: Traditional Ashtanga yoga follows the same sequence of steps and poses, in a precise order. It is based on the Yoga Philosophy of Patanjali. The aim is to create harmony in the physical (Ashana), energetic (Pranayama), emotional (Pretyahara), and mental (Dharana) aspects of our beings as humans. These sessions are at an intermediate level.
Boxing: Boxing is not just an arm workout; when done properly it is a full body workout — legs, core, back, shoulders and arms; as well as a cardiovascular workout. Includes floor work with conditioning drills. Led by a Golden Gloves Recipient.
Hatha & Chair Yoga: These sessions include the practice of asanas (yoga postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises), which help bring peace to the mind and body, preparing the body for deeper spiritual practices such as mediation.
Jogging Club: Meet at the gym and run an hour three days a week. You need not be a member.
Kickboxing: These group sessions combine martial arts techniques with fast-past cardio for a high-energy workout. Build stamina, improve coordination and flexibility, and burn calories as you build lean muscle. Led by a Golden Gloves recipient.
Power Fitness: Focuses on using a workout using a mixture of cardio, light boxing, and weight lifting.
Senior Pilates with Fresh Start: These group sessions are geared towards seniors. All movements and exercises are designed to improve flexibility, range of motion, strength, balance, core strength, and coordination of left, right, and opposite sides of the body. The intent is to improve the conditions that occur as we age.
Spin Bike: Using a stationary bike, Spin Bike focuses on endurance, strength, intervals, high intensity periods of cycling, and recovery. Routines are designed to simulate terrain and situations similar to riding a bike outdoors. Dumbbell exercises and floor work integrate cardiovascular exercise with strength training.
Swiss Ball: Swiss Ball provides opportunities for increasing balance and agility while using your abs and glutes, while coordinating upper and lower extremity movements. It builds core strength and can create tighter abs and slimmer thighs when done on a regular basis.
Teen Dance: This fun group session for teens consists of stretching, core warm up, and a dance combo.
Yoga Stretch: Yoga Stretch consists of meta-movements that include transitions between hatha yoga postures, Level I Pilates stretches, dance exercise, and breathing techniques. Alignment of the body using a gentle approach is the key to obtaining outstanding results.
Zumba: Zumba is a dance-based group session using a fusion of Latin and International rhythms with easy-to-follow-moves. It includes both cardio and resistance training components designed to tone and sculpt the entire body, and is for adults of all ages and fitness levels.
